You may be aware of the big event in Siem Reap - Angkor Wat International Half Marathon happening this December 8, though we previously had mentioned and recommend 3 hidden eateries in Siem Reap in our previous article.
Eating is a thing for the visitors in Siem Reap but getting to know stress-free tourism sites and where to get relaxed is another thing. Therefore Manulife and Kampucheers would like to recommend the visitor 3 tourism sites in Siem Reap where you can find yourself enjoyed with good memories.
1/ Lotus Farm
Not that far from town approximately only 15 minutes from Siem Reap downtown. Transporting along the Siem Reap river on the way to Phnom Kroam possibly with motorbike, car, remorque or even tuk tuk, you will find yourself surrounded by lotus farm both left and right sides. Local people here are creative that they had turned their lotus farm into a tourism site by building the bridge across the pond where tourists can walk along and sightsee the lotus. Also, they offer to sell food served in the shack bungalow with the hammock that visitors can relax. Being out of town with fresh air blow and the scenic view like this, you would experience Siem Reap in another way.
2/ Phnom Krom
Continue the journey just within 5 minutes from the lotus farm you will see a mountain called “Phnom Krom” in front of you with concrete stairs where you can step up or go up the mountain. There are some local people selling food, snack, and water where you should buy some of those. Halfway to the top of the mountain if you look down, you will see the collection of the floating house known as floating house village all over the lake. Also, you should have seen the goats that local people there feed them. It is such pleasure for the eyes seeing those goats on the edge of the mountain cliff. Arriving at the top of the mountain you will feel the fresh air blowing with a scenic view of rice field or Tonle Sap the giant lake depending on the season you are visiting. There is also the Angkorian temple there called “Phnom Krom Temple” built at the end of the 9th century during the reign of King Yasovarman (889 A.D. - 910 A.D.)
3/ Chong Kneas
By just hearing the name, you might not be able to figure out what the place is all about. “Chong Kneas” is a fishing village located on the Tonle Sap Lake with the collection of floating houses that keeps moving based on the season and the level of the lake. Nowadays, Chong Kneas is becoming one of the main Siem Reap attractions where tourists can ride the boat touring around the lake, visiting floating village, getting fresh air and visiting the local crocodile farm. To reach those sites, tourists need to rent the boat approximately $10 for each person for round trip, riding along the Tonle Sap river with the mangrove forest on both sides that gives a wonderful experience of Siem Reap nature. If tourists have more time, they can also request the boat driver to bring them to see the sunset on the big lake of Tonle Sap which is one of the incredible moments the site could offer.
By the time you come to Siem Reap, do not forget to try and promote all these 3 recommended tourism sites of Cambodia.
