The Company shall not reimburse any covered benefit(s) resulted from either directly or indirectly, wholly or partly from any of below item(s). If the claim denial leads to the termination of this Policy, the liability of the Company shall be limited only to the return of total Premium paid from Policy Issue Date or Policy Reinstatement Date, whichever is later, less the medical examination expense (if any) and/or expenses reasonably occurred for the underwriting process (if any).
Exclusions for Non-accidental Death Benefit
a) Suicide or attempted suicide, whether the Life Insured is sane or insane, within two (2) years from the Policy Issue Date or the effective date of its last reinstatement, whichever is later (this exclusion is not applicable after two (2) years period per stated above); or
b) A committed criminal offense, or an attempted commitment of a criminal offense by the Policyowner, Life Insured, or Beneficiaries (please refer to Section 8. Beneficiary); or
c) Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or any complications associated with infection by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Exclusions for Non-accidental Total and Permanent Disability Benefit
a) Attempted suicide or any self-inflicted injury, whether the Life Insured is sane or insane; or
b) A committed criminal offense, or an attempted commitment of a criminal offense by the Policyowner, Life Insured, or Beneficiaries (please refer to Section 8. Beneficiary); or
c) Any unprescribed drug, alcoholic substance, poison, gas or fumes, voluntarily taken, administered, absorbed or inhaled; or
d) War or any act of war, whether declared or not, riot, insurrection, civil commotion, strikes terrorist activities, whether or not the Life Insured was participating therein; or
e) Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or any complications associated with infection by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Exclusions for Accidental Death or Total and Permanent Disability Benefit
a) Suicide or attempted suicide, whether the Life Insured is sane or insane; or
b) Willful exposure to danger or attempted self-destruction or self-inflicted injuries, whether the Life Insured is sane or insane; or
c) Assault or murder; or
d) A committed criminal offense, or an attempted commitment of a criminal offense by the Policyowner, Life Insured, or Beneficiaries (please refer to Section 8. Beneficiary); or
e) Any unprescribed drug, alcoholic substance, poison, gas or fumes, voluntarily taken, administered, absorbed or inhaled; or
f) War or any act of war, whether declared or not, riot, insurrection, civil commotion, strikes terrorist activities, whether or not the Life Insured was participating therein; or
g) Any loss sustained by the Life Insured while resisting arrest by a law enforcement officer or violation of alcohol intake and/or speed limits as prescribed by the applicable traffic law at the time of accident; or
h) Bodily or mental infirmity or illness or disease of any kind or any infection, other than infections occurring simultaneously with and in consequence of an accidental wound; or
i) Travelling or flight in any vehicle or device for aerial navigation, except as a passenger on an aircraft operated by a regular airline; or
j) Engaging in or taking part in driving or riding in any kind of race, underwater activities, or other hazardous pursuit such as mountaineering or potholing or parachuting or bungee jumping.
Exclusions for Major Critical Illness Benefit
a) All Pre-existing conditions and the complications arising from the Pre-existing Conditions; or
b) All Major Critical Illness presenting, or any symptoms presenting or diagnosed within the Waiting Period,
c) Congenital diseases or birth defects; or
d) Disease/s resulting from Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), AIDS-related complex or infection by Human Immune Deficiency Virus (HIV) (except in cases of HIV due to blood transfusion/ Occupationally acquired AIDS)
e) Suicide or attempted suicide, whether the Life Insured is sane or insane; or
f) Influence of alcohol or the taking of any drug, except under the direction of a registered Medical Practitioner
Exclusions for Daily Hospitalization Benefits (Manulife MediCash)
a) All Pre-existing conditions and the complications arising from the Pre-existing Conditions; or
b) Any Hospitalization due to Illness within the Waiting Period,
c) Any Hospitalization for which the underlying Medical Condition or any number of days of Hospitalization which is Not Medically Necessary, as determined by the Company; or
d) Any treatment or surgical operation performed due to either internal or external congenital abnormalities or deformities including hereditary conditions; or
e) Pregnancy or complications from pregnancy; or
f) Medical services or treatments related to infertility or sterilization; or
g) Private nursing, rest cures or sanitaria care; or
h) Any unprescribed drug, alcoholic substance, poison, gas or fumes, voluntarily taken, administered, absorbed or inhaled; or
i) Venereal disease and its sequelae, or AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) or ARC (AIDS Related Complex) and HIV related diseases or
j) Any communicable diseases required quarantine by law; or
k) Psychotic, mental, or nervous disorders, (including any neuroses and their physiological or psychosomatic manifestations); or
l) Travelling or flight in any vehicle or device for aerial navigation, except as a passenger on an aircraft operated by a regular airline; or
m) Suicide or attempted suicide, whether the Life Insured is sane or insane; or
n) A committed criminal offense, or an attempted commitment of a criminal offense by the Policyowner, Life Insured, or Beneficiaries (please refer to Section 8. Beneficiary); or
o) Engaging in or taking part in driving or riding in any kind of race, underwater activities, or other hazardous pursuit such as mountaineering or potholing or parachuting or bungee jumping or;
p) War or any act of war, whether declared or not, riot, insurrection, civil commotion, strikes terrorist activities, whether or not the Life Insured was participating therein; or
Examples of Treatment Which Are Not Medically Necessary
a) Plastic/Cosmetic surgery, circumcision, eye examination, glasses and refraction or surgical correction of nearsightedness.
b) Dental conditions including dental treatment or oral surgery except as necessitated by Accident to sound natural teeth occurring wholly during the insurance period.
c) Hospitalization primarily for investigatory of experimental purposes, diagnosis, X-ray examination, general physical or medical examinations, and any preventive treatments, preventive medicines or examinations or screenings carried out by a Physician, and treatments specifically for weight reduction or gain.
d) Routine physical examinations, health check-ups or tests not incidental to treatment or diagnosis of the Life Insured’s sickness or injury.
e) Erectile dysfunction and tests or treatment related to impotence or sterilization.
f) Drug therapy or traditional medicine methods.
g) Vaccination and immunization injections.
h) Investigation and treatment of sleep and snoring disorders, hormone replacement therapy and alternative therapy such as treatment, medical service or supplies, including but not limited to chiropractic services, acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, bone setting, herbalist treatment, massage or aroma therapy or other alternative treatment.
i) The treatment of common diseases unless surgery is required:
1. Back pain, arthralgia, arthritis, myositis, degenerative spine; conjunctivitis, Pterygium; or
2. Hemorrhoids; or
3. Chapped skin, soft tissue trauma, closed fracture or dislocation of finger or toe; or
4. Physical breakdown, neurasthenia.
j) Medical treatment for sex changes.
k) Medical treatment involving the donation of any body organ by the Life Insured.
